Exposure to the arts:

Your donation helps send students to the opera.  Many for the first time for an experience that will be everlasting and for some life changing. This exposure may not happen for many students unless we are able to offer them this experience. YOU can give the gift of exposure!

Building a career:

Many artists hired by OPC are at the beginning stages of their careers.  We pride ourselves on giving opportunities to many new and upcoming artists, allowing them to learn and grow from our more established artists and staff, gaining priceless knowledge you can’t learn in school and helping them further their careers.  These opportunities are not just for singers, but for musicians, directors, stage managers and many other positions needed for our full-scale performances.  In addition, we support in other ways such as our video scholarship program which funds professional audition videos and continuing educational opportunities with our VIVA series. YOU can help grow a career!

Educate:

Our VIVA (Virtual Intensive Vocal Academy) began during the pandemic and proved a useful and effective offering for both performers and opera lovers.  Virtual classes are facilitated by leading industry professionals and offer a once in a lifetime educational opportunity for those in attendance.  Your donation helps offer scholarships so all can attend.  

We are bringing our opera programming to the schools.  Our in-school presentation, in conjunction with Huntington Bank and Columbus Kiwanis, brings our program "I, Too, Sing America" into area schools with a facilitator and teaches students about opera as an art form as well as the historical significance of the Black composers, poetry and spirituals featured in the program.  YOU can help educate!

Diversity Project:

Our Diversity Project Initiative ensures that opera is an art form that is accessible to all.  We strive to enliven the opera world with the support of the African American community, to engage those with a love for the arts and make their place in the opera world one of belonging.  We aim to increase the size of our African American audiences, to continue to help emerging Black opera singers finance their audition videos to help further their careers, and to continue to educate and resurrect the forgotten opera music written by Black composers and bring those works into the mainstream.  YOU can help ensure all belong!

Sometimes travel is necessary for artists in our productions, housing, and travel are fees our company incurs to bring the best to you. Operating costs...our team is small but mighty but can't work for free. Rental Fees for the theaters, costuming, and sets. You get it, the more! YOU can be a difference maker!
